Reaping the Benefits of a No-cost Home Energy Assessment In MA

September 8, 2014

energy_assessmentHow many times have you said a no-cost Home Energy Assessment is “on my to-do list”? Don’t wait until you feel that cold winter air seeping in to start thinking about sealing up your home this heating season. With last season’s polar vortex clearly in our collective memory, I suggest putting a Mass Save Home Energy Assessment at the top of your list.

Making your home energy efficient is usually a multi-step project. For instance, if you have an old furnace, struggling through the cold months to heat your home, it might be time to replace it. A high efficiency model will save you money by using fuel more efficiently.

A high-efficiency ENERGY STAR-rated furnace can turn more than 90 percent of your fuel into heat. And there are programs and incentives that will help sweeten the deal. In order to take advantage of these programs you must first get your no-cost Home Energy Assessment.

An ENERGY STAR-rated heating system is an important step towards saving money on energy. However, if your home is not properly insulated you could be losing precious heat through your walls, roof, ceiling, floors and around your doors and windows.

Another good reason to get a no-cost Home Energy Assessment – eligible customers can take advantage of generous energy efficiency rebates and incentives.

These may include 75 percent (up to $2,000) toward the installation of approved insulation improvements; generous rebates on qualifying energy-efficient heating and hot water heating equipment. Our experts will help guide you.

So what’s involved? The assessment can take two to four hours, depending on the size of your home, and includes a top-to-bottom evaluation from basement to attic and everything in between.

As part of the assessment, customers may receive energy efficient light bulbs, advanced power strips, low flow showerheads, faucet aerators, as well as refrigerator and heating system equipment efficiency screenings. You’ll get a customized report detailing home energy efficiency recommendations.

After the assessment, the Energy Specialist will review the report and walk you through the available rebates, programs and incentives, as well as information on our zero interest HEAT Loan program to help finance your projects.

For a limited time only, take advantage of some new Expanded HEAT Loan offerings funded by the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources that, for the first time, includes High Efficiency Wood Pellet Boilers.
